Aussie dollar under pressure
The Australian dollar has opened the week under pressure after trading to a record
low of $US0.4850 on Friday night.
At 0700 AEST, the dollar was trading at $US0.4864 down from Friday's close of $US0.4895.
The US dollar surged on Friday, particularly against the yen and a sagging euro also
helped drag the local unit down.
There was not enough positive news in the local data releases on Friday to help the
hapless currency and there are no signs it will be any different this week.
MICHAEL WORKMAN, foreign exchange strategist at Commonwealth Bank, says the Aussie
dollar is a mess.
