NSW: Post-mortem to be conducted today

SYDNEY, Aug 7 AAP - A post-mortem examination will be conducted today on the body ofa man found in a northern Sydney national park.

Police investigations into the death are continuing after the body was discovered yesterdaymorning by cyclists in the Lane Cove National Park.

The man, aged in his late 20s, had suffered extensive head injuries, but police havenot revealed whether his injuries had been caused by a firearm or a blunt instrument.

A motorcycle helmet was found next to the body and a motorcycle believed to have belongedto the man was found outside the park entrance, police said.

The motorcycle has been taken to Westmead for forensic examination.

An extensive ground search of the scene was conducted yesterday and a police spokesmansaid investigations into the death would continue today.

The man has not been formally identified and a post-mortem will be conducted todayat Glebe morgue to determine how he died, the spokesman said.
