QLD: Gold Coast business achieving broader base chamber
A survey has revealed the Gold Coast is broadening its business base away from its total
reliance on tourism.
The Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry June survey shows 69 per cent of Gold
Coast's manufacturing, transport and retail businesses recorded a jump in demand.
The chamber's Gold Coast manager BOB SCOTT says the city now has such a solid tourism
foundation that it could easily evolve into an international business centre.
Mr SCOTT said there were wide-ranging business opportunities in the city which will
strengthen the trend towards a more powerful and stable city economy.
